UCL welcomes Year 12 pupils from across the UK to Biosciences
Last month the UCL Outreach Office, in partnership with the Sutton Trust and Wolfson Foundation, welcomed 38 Year 12 students from across the UK to the first Biosciences residential summer school. The Outreach Office worked closely with Chris Taylorson and Amanda Cain (UCL Biosciences) to develop a week of activities that would challenge participants academically and provide them with an insight into studying Biosciences at UCL. The work started immediately with 'Grill an Academic' s on the first afternoon. The s, with academics and researchers from the university, formed the basis of group work that culminated in presentations at the end of the week. This experience gave participants a chance to develop key skills, while learning about the research and careers of UCL academics. Participants also took part in laboratory work, taster lectures and HE sessions, and were supported throughout by a team of current Biosciences undergraduates. The group enjoyed evening activities that showcased the best of what London has to offer.
