The health of soil in our cities may not be an issue many are familiar with but soil quality can impact on everything from human health to flood resilience and climate change. Durham University researcher Dr Karen Johnson , School of Engineering and Computing Sciences , wants to see urban soil become a priority for government and has led a study to investigate whether a simple mineral could hold the key to a sustainable and cost-effective solution. Research led by Dr Johnson has recently been published in the renowned Nature journal.
