Public health perspective on new weight loss medications

Dr Oliver Mytton (UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health) argues that while new weight-loss medications are an important development, they mustn't divert attention from a public health approach that addresses the underlying causes of obesity. In an article in The BMJ , Dr Oliver Mytton (UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health) cautions against relying on weight-loss drugs to tackle the obesity crisis. He argues that a more holistic, lifestyle orientated public health approach would have a greater impact for people with overweight or class I obesity, who largely remain ineligible for weight loss medications.
