Michael Marmot Professor Sir Michael Marmot (UCL Institute of Health Equity) highlights the need to tackle the 'dismal state of our health and health inequalities' and sets out a plan for the next UK Government to ensure health is at the heart of all policies. In an op-ed  published in The BMJ , Professor Sir Michael Marmot asks the politicians of today to do everything they can to urgently improve the quality of people's lives through reducing health inequality. Meanwhile, in an open letter addressed to the next UK Government,  also published in the BMJ , the Director of UCL Institute of Health Equity pushes the politicians of the near future to put health equity and well-being at the heart of all their policies.
