Professor is President of 3rd European Congress on Immunology

This week sees the 3^rd European Congress of Immunology held in the Glasgow SECC from 5-8^th September. Professor Eddy Liew, Fellow of the Royal Society and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Infection Immunity and Inflammation, University of Glasgow is the Congress' President. ‎ "Immunology is arguably the hottest topic in current biomedical science. Immunology research has led to effective vaccines against many infections including Smallpox, Polio, Mumps, Measles and Rubella, and more recently effective treatment against Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis and Gout. This is a truly exciting time in Immunology research. We are on the verge of designing vaccines against HIV and Tuberculosis, and treatment against lupus and multiple sclerosis" said Professor Liew. ECI 2012, with the theme "A healthier future through research, education and innovation" will be attended by over 3000 participants and is the largest gathering of the European immunologists.
