Professor Dominiczak appointed Editor-in-Chief of Hypertension

The American Heart Association has appointed Professor Anna Dominiczak as editor-in-chief of its journal Hypertension . The appointment to one of the leading monthly journals for physicians and scientists involved in research and treatment of high blood pressure commences in January 2012 and is the first time the position has been held in Europe. Dominiczak said: "It is a great honour to assume editorial duties for this important publication. Our goals will be to solidify Hypertension's position as the leading journal for all professionals interesting in understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, management and impact of high blood pressure, both in the clinic and at the population level." Dominiczak is Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow and is also Regius Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics, a position created in 1637. She joined the University in 1992 and was awarded an OBE by The Queen in 2005 for her work in cardiovascular and medical research, particularly into the genetic factors affecting hypertension risk. Dominiczak has many years of experience in editing a variety of journals, including Clinical Science , and also sits on the Council of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), having been made a Fellow of the RSE in 2003. She has also played active roles in various American Heart Association Committees, including the Leadership Committee.
