Invitation to a treasure hunt for families!
There are few activities as exciting for children as a treasure hunt - and local parents and carers looking for ways to keep children entertained over the summer need look no further than the Cambridge Museums for a journey of discovery right on the doorstep. Twelve of the City's museums have got together to create an exciting Summer Trail encompassing a wealth of treasures - from the double-tusked narwhal in the Zoology Museum (once mistaken for a unicorn) to the palm-sized lump of gold in the Sedgwick Museum, and the quirky Day of the Dead Skeletons (pictured) from Mexico at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. To take part all you need to do is pick up a trail guide and Museum Passport at any of the 12 museums taking part - or download it from the link on the side bar. The trail is being launched at the Big Day Out on Parker's Piece tomorrow and will continue until 18 September (check www.cam.ac.uk/museums for individual museum opening times). Suitable for families with children aged five and up, the trail can be completed in a couple of days or spread out over the summer. You can spend as little or as much time as you like at the museums you visit - and details of other activities happening over the summer are listed in the trail guide. Ten University museums are taking part in the trail plus Cambridge and County Folk Museum and Cambridge Museum of Technology.
