University role in Durham's Lumiere light festival secures £150k of funding Durham University is to play a key role in the Lumiere light festival in November, which is expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors to Durham City. Through its partnership with Lumiere, and in collaboration with producers Artichoke, the University has accessed £150,000 of funding from Arts Council England under its Grants for the Arts programme. The money will contribute to several artworks as part of Lumiere, which has been commissioned by Durham County Council and will run from 14-17 November 2013. Two of the artworks will be situated in Durham University's Lower Mountjoy site and the University is providing access to the Palace Green, where Crown of Ligh t, by Ross Ashton, Robert Ziegler and John del' Nero will be projected onto the Cathedral for the final time.
