UCL welcomes new honorary graduates

Link: - UCL people UCL has bestowed eight honorary degrees this year - the highest mark of distinction that a university can award. Every year UCL awards honorary degrees to people who have a record of outstanding achievement in scholarship or in public life and who have made contributions of unusual importance. The recipients of the degrees are: Professor Lorna Ann Casselton, Doctor of Science honoris causa (DSc): Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society and Emeritus Professor of Fungal Genetics in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Oxford Professor Jonathan Irvine Israel, Doctor of Literature honoris causa (DLit): Writer on Dutch history, the Age of Enlightenment and European Jewry. Professor Timothy Killeen, Doctor of Science honoris causa (DSc): Assistant Director for the Geosciences at the US National Science Foundation The Baroness Professor Onora O?Neill of Bengarve, Doctor of Literature honoris causa (DLit): Philosopher and crossbench member of the House of Lords A dinner was held at UCL on 6 September 2010 in honour of this year's recipients.
