UCL ranked 15th worldwide by THE

UCL has been ranked 15th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2016-17. The rankings are based on key performance indicators gauging each university's teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. The five areas are blended in the following proportions: teaching 30%, research 30%, citations 30%, international outlook 7.5%, and industry income 2. UCL's strongest area was research, where it placed ninth. UCL remained the 4th-ranked university in the UK. Professor Michael Arthur, UCL President & Provost, said: 'We welcome our ranking in the new Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which come just weeks after the QS World University Rankings placed UCL in the top ten globally. We know that no single ranking can ever fully reflect our - or any other university's - distinctive strengths, but we know that they are influential in terms of study choices that students make, so we are pleased that there is a consistent pattern showing UCL among the world leaders.'
