UCL Academy appoints new Chair of Governors

Professor Alan Thompson, Pro-Provost (London) and Dean of UCL Brain Sciences, will take the role on for the next academic year.

The UCL Academy’s Governing Body is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Academy, holding the Principal to account for the educational performance of students and performance of staff, and overseeing its financial performance. 

Professor Thompson will step into the Chair’s role from this term, taking on the role from Professor Kathy Armour, UCL’s outgoing Vice Provost (Education & Student Experience).

In addition to his role as Dean of UCL’s Faculty of Brain Sciences, Professor Thompson heads up UCL’s London Office, leading on UCL’s links with partners across the capital. The London Office is also responsible for the programme of enrichment and support we provide to the UCL Academy under Amy Lightstone, who also is member of the UCL Academy Trust Board.
