Successes for University of Glasgow in THE Subject Rankings 2025

The University of Glasgow ranks in the world top 100 in eight out of 11 subject areas in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025.

In this year’s results the University has two subjects ranked in the world top 50, with Law placing 44 and Medical Health placing 50 .

The other subjects in the top 100 in the 2025 rankings are:
  • Psychology (52)
  • Arts & Humanities (56)
  • Life Sciences (77)
  • Social Sciences (91)
  • Education Studies (96)


The THE Rankings by Subject use 18 performance indicators, categorised under the same five core pillars as the THE World University Rankings. The methodology is adjusted for each subject, ensuring fairness and accuracy by considering field-specific research cultures and publication practices.

In the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, released in October 2024, the University of Glasgow maintained its position of 87th in the world.
