Stations of the Cross exhibition features 29 artists
An exhibition at the university memorial chapel will feature works from Peter Howson and John Lowrie Morrison (Jolomo) throughout Lent. The exhibition, part of Lentfest, an annual arts and faith festival organised by the Archdiocese of Glasgow, provide a modern version of the traditional 14 stage depiction of the Passion of Christ. The university will host 17 events throughout the festival including performances from the highly acclaimed University Chapel Choir and talks from the Most Rev. Mario Joseph Conti, award winning film producer Norman Stone, celebrated composer James MacMillan, and renowned artist Richard Demarco. Stephen Callaghan, artistic director of the festival, said: "The popularity of the art exhibition topic illustrates the timelessness of Biblical subject matter and the diversity of the artists will no doubt ensure a wide range of interpretations. We've never had so many artists take part and not all are Christian, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with."
