Rare opportunity to hear two grand pianos
Peninsula Arts is presenting a unique concert for two pianos at the University of Plymouth's Roland Levinsky Building on Wednesday 17 June at 7.30pm. The event is the finale of the Contemporary Piano Series, a collection of performances - organised in partnership with the University's Interdisciplinary Centre for Computer Music Research - that have showcased the astonishing versatility of the piano. The programme of contemporary piano music will be performed by Catherine Laws and Frank Denyer. It includes the premiere of new music by University of Plymouth composer Lona Kozik, and works by Debussy and Stravinsky. Frank Denyer is a widely-respected UK composer, whose recordings of the solo piano music and ensemble works of Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff, John Cage, James Tenney, Alvin Lucier and others, have met with much acclaim. He is currently Professor of Composition at UCF Dartington. Catherine Laws is a skilled concert pianist who performs regularly with contemporary music ensembles, and in a duo with Frank Denyer.
