Meet the Faces of UCL!

In recognition of UCL’s bicentenary in 2026, we present Faces of UCL, a powerful snapshot of the people who have contributed to 200 years of ground-breaking research, innovation, education and impact.

Since our foundation in 1826, UCL has been a place where new ideas and perspectives can flourish, where people had a platform to push disciplinary, social, cultural and political boundaries to make the extraordinary possible.

Recognising the achievements of our diverse, global community of staff, students and partners - past and present - Faces of UCL uncovers some of our unsung heroes alongside more renowned figures. Discover unique stories that span continents, disciplines and decades, of people who have improved lives, built communities, and continue to shape a better future.

The Faces of UCL campaign includes a new, purpose-built  search page. You can use the free-text search or browse Faces by category, faculty and department, and theme.

This first group of 40 Faces of UCL focuses on UCL’s origins, celebrating our founding commitment to fair access, inclusion, invention, useful knowledge and social impact, and spotlighting the visionary spirit of our staff and students over 200 years.

20 new Faces will be released each month, watch this space! You can also see some of our Faces at the UCL200 exhibition, Two Centuries Here , which opens to the public on 18 Febuary.
