Three Cambridge University students will be given a Chopin master class, by the internationally acclaimed pianist Yundi in a public performance at the West Road Concert Hall, this week. The master class forms part of the Faculty of Music's 'Practising Performance' Series, and features an hour-long 'Musical Dialogue' with Professor John Rink, who will explore Yundi's insights into the art of performing Chopin. The event takes place on Wednesday 23 March 2011, 1.00 - 4.00 pm, West Road Concert Hall, Faculty of Music. Tickets are available at the door: Adults £5. Students (with ID) free of charge. During the master class Yundi will work with three pianists: Gabriella Flatt (second-year Music student at Cambridge), Kausikan Rajeshkumar (third-year Music student at Cambridge), and Alexander Soares (Cambridge BA 2009; now a postgraduate at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama). Yundi (formerly known as Yundi Li) was propelled onto the international music scene in 2000 when he won first prize at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw.
