UCL staff and students can bid for up to £500 to fund activities or research projects which advance disability inclusion at UCL - find out more.
Staff and students who would like to run disability inclusion activities or research projects can apply to the Disability Equality Steering Group (DESG) Fund. We’re looking for innovative, impactful, and wide-reaching projects which would be otherwise unfeasible, as opposed to business as usual (i.e. training or regular departmental activity).
Previous projects that have been funded include:
- A paid opportunity for students to produce lecture summaries to assist other students with Reasonable Academic Adjustments
- A one-off event featuring a panel of speakers, held with the aim of bringing people together to network and share their experiences.
Applicants are not required to identify as a member of the disabled and/or neurodivergent community; however, their proposal must have a clear aim that aligns and contributes to the visions outlined in the DESG’s Terms of Reference.
You can find out more about the fund, including detailed guidance for students and staff, eligibility and how to apply on the HR website.
Applications open on 27 January 2026 and the deadline for applications is Thursday 27 February 2026.
