Dear colleagues,
Following the announcement we made on 12 September 2024 , I am writing to update you on the second tranche of 2024-25 pay award.
As outlined in our previous update, the 2024/25 national pay award was structured in two stages. The first tranche, an uplift of £900 (full-time equivalent) on base salaries, was implemented in September, with retrospective effect to 1 August 2024. The remaining portion, bringing the total increase up to the full percentage allocated to each spine point, will now be applied effective from 1 March 2025 as mandated by UCEA (the employer body who negotiates national pay awards). This increase will be included in the upcoming March payroll.
This means that:
- Staff on pay points 5 to 22 (inclusive) will receive the remainder of a £1,200 total uplift per annum (full-time equivalent).
- Staff on pay points 23 to 37 (inclusive) will receive the remainder of a £1,150 total uplift per annum (full-time equivalent).
- Staff on pay point 38 and above (including Grade 10) will receive the remainder of a 2.5% increase on basic salary.
Updated salary scales from 1 March 2025 are available here.
London allowance
As part of the overall uplift, the 2.5% increase to the London allowance, which already took effect in full from 1 August 2024, remains unchanged.Looking ahead
As part of the Reward Strategy announced in July 2023, further planned improvements will take place in April 2025 and August 2026 affecting some of our colleagues on Grade 7 Research Fellows, Grade 8 and Grade 9 on the UCL pay scale. We will shortly update you with another news piece summarising these changes.Thank you for your continued contributions.
