Are you a final year undergraduate student? Complete the National Student Survey (NSS) 2025 and enter the prize draw to win a graduation package!

What is the NSS?

The National Student Survey is an annual survey of all’undergraduate students across the UK and a chance for you to tell us about your experience at UCL.

All eligible students were emailed on Thursday 9 January by Ipsos, an independent survey research agency that manages the survey on behalf of the Office for Students (OfS). The survey will remain open untill Wednesday 30 April and Ipsos will continue to contact you through email and phone calls until they have completed the survey.

You can also access the survey through the NSS website or via the QR code below.

Why does the NSS matter?

The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete.

This is a chance for you to give meaningful feedback on teaching, assessment, academic support, organisation and management and learning resources.

All your responses, including in-text comments, are anonymous so you can be completely honest.

This helps us listen and respond to what is important to you and identify areas for improvement.

It also personally affects you as your department or faculty uses this feedback to review courses, learning methods and develop short-term and long-term policies.

Additionally, NSS results form part of the information shown on the Discover Uni website and help prospective students make informed choices about higher education.

You could win a graduation package

This year you will also have the option to enter a prize draw to win a graduation package that would support the cost of your graduation ceremony. The graduation package includes:
  • 1 x graduation gown hire
  • 2 x guest tickets
  • 1 x studio portrait
  • Postage and packaging - up to £29.95.

We also run our own NSS response rate incentive scheme. Your department can qualify for an additional allocation of funds to use in collaboration with students if they achieve a response rate of 70% or higher.

The funds range from £250 to a maximum of £1,500 according to the size of the NSS-eligible cohort.

Pilot of the Sexual Misconduct Survey

Once you have completed the NSS, you will be asked to complete a survey on sexual misconduct. This is a survey that the Office for Students (OfS) is piloting across England to understand the prevalence of sexual misconduct in higher education.

This survey is optional and will contain questions of a sensitive nature. Some of the language used in the survey is explicit and may be uncomfortable for some. Content warnings will be included at the beginning and throughout the questionnaire.

You can find more information about  UCL’s wellbeing and support services , and our support for those affected by harassment or sexual misconduct here. A team of expert mental health and wellbeing staff are available at any time to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to support you.

If you do not wish to be presented with the opportunity to complete the sexual misconduct survey, please email the Ipsos student helpline:  thestudentsurvey@ipsos.com.

You can find more information on the sexual misconduct survey on the OfS website.
