Haleema scoops first prize in GEEMA logo competition
Haleema Ali's design was selected from around 40 entries sent in by pupils at schools around the country. Her black and white logo impressed the judges with its simplicity and boldness, making it a versatile design. "I feel really honoured that my design won the logo competition," said Haleema, who is pictured wearing the sweatshirt that was her prize along with a book token. "I designed it in a simplistic way, featuring just the word GEEMA, one half in white against a black background and the other black against a white background." Haleema is working towards her GCSEs and hopes to go to Luton Sixth Form College to study A-levels in psychology, English language and literature, chemistry and either maths or religious studies. She is already doing an AS in critical thinking. Mark Copestake, GEEMA coordinator at Cambridge Admissions Office, said: "We were thrilled to have so many entries. Haleema's design stood out as it's both eye-catching and conveys a strong message about the increasing diversity of students at Cambridge."
