Durham's research strengths in space science highlighted by new exhibition Durham University's research strengths in space science will be highlighted when a replica of a telescope designed to shed new light on the Universe goes on display. The University's Centre for Advanced Instrumentation (CfAI) , helped design and build part of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), a replica of which will form part of Durham's annual Celebrate Science festival which runs from Tuesday October 28 to Thursday October 30. The JWST will replace the iconic Hubble Space Telescope in 2018 when it is launched into space to capture images of the cosmos. The CfAI - based at NETPark, the North East Technology Park, in County Durham - was part of an international team behind the Near Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) that will form part of the JWST.
