Crescent moon
Crescent moon From around 11 March until 9 April 2024, Muslims across UCL will mark Ramadan, the holiest month of the Muslim calendar. The month of Ramadan marks the revelation of the Book of Qu'ran and is a time of reflection, with a particular focus on prayer, purification and charitable acts. During the month, Muslims around the world refrain from eating and drinking, including water, during daylight hours. This means that UCL staff observing the fast may need some flexibility during the period. UCL's guidance on supporting Muslim staff during Ramadan has more information, including information and advice for managers. The Muslim Council of Britain has also published a useful Ramadan 2024 health guide , including advice around what is and what is not included in the fast, and who is exempt from fasting. There is also a comprehensive Guide to Ramadan 2024 , including tips to maintain physical and mental health whilst fasting, tips for a more eco-friendly Ramadan and advice for employers and line managers.
