Join our focus groups exploring how gender, disability, neurodivergence, parental leave, caring responsibilities, and ethnicity may shape staff experiences at UCL.
We’re recruiting participants for upcoming focus groups exploring the experiences of UCL staff in relation to gender equality and inclusive workplace practices - for example, how gender, disability, neurodivergence, parental leave, caring responsibilities, and ethnicity may shape experiences. The insights from these discussions will directly inform UCL’s next Athena Swan submission.
We recognise that staff experiences at UCL vary depending on gender, role, identity, and life circumstances. That’s why it’s essential for us to listen to your individual stories and perspectives.
We are particularly interested in views on the following:
- Career development and progression (Professional Services and Academic staff)
- Flexible working arrangements (Academic staff and those with caring responsibilities)
- Support for disabled and / or neurodivergent staff
- Parental leave and return-to-work support
- Men’s perspectives on gender equality

About Athena Swan
The Athena Swan Charter is a national framework overseen by Advance HE, an independent organisation. The framework recognises and promotes gender equality in higher education and research. We are undertaking this research to better understand the lived experiences of staff across a range of roles and identities, and identify barriers to gender equity and inclusion which can then be addressed in an Action Plan for institutional change.
