UCL final year students and alumni can apply for a fully-funded place on the Yenching Academy’s Master’s programme in China Studies.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study at Peking University (PKU) in Beijing. This two-year programme beginning from September 2025 will develop their understanding of China and its role in the world.

At the core of the programme lies an emphasis on interdisciplinarity approaches and the value it assigns to thinking about China’s past, present and future - from both Chinese and international perspectives.

Scholars are given the flexibility to customise their programme within the broadly defined fields of the humanities and social sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, they can choose courses from six research areas:
  • Economics and Management
  • History and Archaeology
  • Law and Society
  • Literature and Culture
  • Philosophy and Religion
  • Politics and International Relations.

Recorded virtual information sessions specific to each of the six research areas are available on the Yenching Academy’s YouTube channel.

Yenching Academy hosted a general information session about the fellowship in September 2023. Watch the recording on YouTube.
