The ’Big Four’ Triumph at the CIMA UK Global Business Challenge

The Big Four, a team from the University of Glasgow, have won the UK final of the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2013, winning a place to represent the UK at the global final in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 28 and 29 August. The GBC is an international business management competition designed to bring out the very best in the next generation of business leaders and the team will now compete against the winning teams from 23 countries across four continents. The Big Four battled past 97 other UK teams to reach the country final on 14 June in London. They produced an innovative business analysis and a particularly strong presentation. At the final they triumphed over rivals from London Metropolitan University, Leicester University and Abertay Dundee University. The UK competition was organised in partnership with Barclays, sponsored by Tesco and supported by Milkround. The Big Four were mentored by Christopher Coles at the University of Glasgow, who said of their accomplishment: "I am delighted with the Big Four's achievement and they are a credit to themselves and the University.
