St Andrew’s Day celebration

An evening of the best of Scottish song and instrumental music from the Scots and Gaelic traditions. Join us for a night of entertainment featuring pipes, clarsach and Scots and Gaelic songs to celebrate Scotland's rich cultural heritage. This year's concert forms part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the School of Scottish Studies in 1951. Performers include Jean Redpath, Scott Gardiner, Patsy Seddon and Margaret Callan. The evening promises to be an outstanding experience of Scotland's music from some of its finest exponents. The concert will be held in St Cecilia's Hall, from 7.30pm on Wednesday 30 November. This event is presented by Celtic and Scottish Studies and the School of Scottish Studies Archives. Book online. Most of this evening's performers are, or have been, 'Traditional Artists in Residence' at the School of Scottish Studies Archives, and are leading exponents in their field, drawing on a wealth of tradition. The School of Scottish Studies Archives. Material has been collected for the School of Scottish Studies Archives since 1951. The Archives contain over 9000 recordings of songs, music, tales, verse, customs, beliefs and oral history.
