Research fellowship recruitment drive

The University of Glasgow has announced a new drive to encourage world-class researchers to bring their work to the city. More than £10m of new fellowship packages are being unveiled today (Thursday 29 March) to strengthen the University's already world-class research base. Applications are welcome from suitable candidates from any research discipline. The University will make 36 new Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellowships available. The initial round of Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellowships in 2006 were awarded to nine leading scholars including Professor Colin Berry, now Chair in Cardiology at the University. In addition to an open competition, there are also fellowships available in the areas of Cultural Industries and Cultural Policy; Digital Economy and Culture; Music as a Cultural Practice; Religious Studies (Islam); Sensors and Sensor Systems; Social Sciences and Synthetic Biology. The new Leadership Fellows programme, also being launched today, aims to attract up to 30 promising young researchers to choose the University as a host for their externally-funded fellowships.
