Online exhibition of artworks by Coventry artists reflecting university research launches in December
The University of Warwick and Coventry University will launch Coventry Creates 2021, a second online exhibition of collaborative work between researchers and Coventry artists. Coventry Creates 2021, funded by Arts Council England, commissioned 12 Coventry postcode artists to work in collaboration with university academics and local arts organisations and independent artists to produce digital artworks reflecting and responding to university research projects. The online exhibition launches to the public on 8 December 2021 at 7pm. The works of art cover topics including women in social care and caring, how art captures solitude and the feeling of loneliness through history, the importance of preserving the genetic diversity of vegetables, and how freelancers in the creative sectors coped and adapted during lockdown. How does it affect your education when someone constantly mispronounces your name? What are the barriers to political engagement faced by young women of colour in the region? How does it feel to be on the healthcare frontline fighting a pandemic? These are just some of the questions researchers and artists are addressing together in the Coventry Creates 2021 exhibition which launches in December. The University of Warwick and Coventry University are staging a second digital art exhibition featuring artistic responses to university research which will go live to the public on 8 December. A total of 12 collaborative works will be added to the online exhibition.
