ICCI 360 Festival
A head-spinning panoramic programme of films, interactive games, concerts, performance and dance events is coming to a special 360 degree screen in Plymouth this September. The ICCI 360 Festival is looking to revive the 18th Century tradition of the Panorama and bring it bang up-up-date with state-of-the-art high definition projectors, digital surround sound and a 62-metre screen. Created by Innovation for the Creative and Cultural Industries (ICCI) at the University of Plymouth, the ICCI 360 Festival will be one of the first of its kind in the country and is set to showcase live and recorded work from artists and musicians from around the world. Housed inside a 21-metre diameter dome on Plymouth Piazza, the festival will run from September 13-18 and will also offer plenty of interactive experiences with games, workshops, lectures and activities for children and young people among the diverse range of events. ICCI Director Martin Woolner said: “The festival has developed from research conducted by ICCI over the last three years and makes an important connection between the community, business and the University. “We are looking to revive the tradition of the touring panorama as a powerful means of creating social engagement, entertainment and celebration. The team has been working with panoramic specialists to produce the different pieces, which have all been tailored to take advantage of the special screen and surround sound.
