Graduate Scheme Summer Schools in September
UCL Careers Service is holding two summer schools this September to assist UCL students who are interested in applying for graduate schemes. The two summer schools will run for three days, beginning on Wednesday 12 and Tuesday 18 September, and will offer a bespoke programme of activities designed to give UCL's students who are considering applying for graduate schemes a head-start before applications open in Autumn 2012. Graduate schemes and internships are offered by many larger employers looking to recruit future talent and are seen as a fast-track route to career progression. With more graduates applying for each position, places are highly competitive and the correct preparation can be a big advantage. The programme of activities at the summer school includes: - o an introduction to the UK graduate labour market, graduate schemes and what employers are looking for - o the opportunity to meet and hear from current employers who offer graduate schemes - o an application toolkit - including workshops on CVs and applications, aptitude tests, s and other assessment centre techniques - o insight into how to make the most of the careers service support available to you. Mark De Freitas, from UCL Careers Service, said: "Competition for graduate schemes and internships has never been more intense and the Summer Schools are a three day boot-camp providing an essential guide to every stage of the recruitment process. It gives UCL students the chance to learn more about the opportunities offered, meet and network with graduate recruiters and improve their application and techniques." Feedback from previous Summer School attendees: ' 'I found out what employers are looking for and how they go about filtering candidates.
