Artists have been working with our academics to produce artworks inspired by their research
Five selected Artists have each been working together with researchers at the University of Bath to influence each other's work, study each other's methods and contribute to each other's output, in order to present results and engage people in understanding what they do. Expressions of Research is a free exhibition at 94-96 Walcot Street, Bath and is open to the public 11am-6pm daily from 16-24 November, with late night opening on 18 and 19 November. Staff, students and the local community are invited to come along on Friday 18 November 6-8pm for informal talks by the artists and researchers and to about the works on show. The project is a result of collaboration between Fringe Arts Bath, the University of Bath's Public Engagement Team and Edge Arts with support of the University's 50th Anniversary Fund. The exhibition presents some works in progress: drawings, maquettes and some finished pieces to share with you their experiences, their efforts and their thoughts. These include adapting the mathematics of chaos theory to understand art & creativity, poetic verse influencing systems of mass-emergency response, mechanical machines for making music, performance presenting the elasticity of poverty, visual statements on the creation of sustainable molecules. The results will form an exhibition starting in January at The Edge Arts, and will then go on tour in the area.
