Countdown continues to cultural spectacle

The ICCI360 Arena will provide a dramatic setting for a range of interactive and multi-national events this summer in Weymouth, and is part of Maritime Mix – London 2012 Cultural Olympiad by the Sea. Created by Plymouth University’s ICCI (Innovation for Creative and Cultural Industries), the magnificent 21m 360° Cinemax Arena will be located on the Pavilion Theatre forecourt for 42 days, from July 26 to September 9. It will host film screenings, interactive gaming activities, live performances and workshops close to the venue for the Olympic sailing regatta. Martin Woolner, Director of the ICCI at Plymouth University, said: “The ICCI360 Arena is showcasing a range of work and events that has something for all the family in a dynamic setting. It is a unique opportunity to present and celebrate diverse creative and cultural activities. “It provides a dynamic high technology multimedia exhibition environment to bring together local communities, Olympic followers and Weymouth holiday makers and is extremely versatile, allowing a vast assortment of performances to be shown and experiences to be made. “We are working with new, young and emerging artists as well as established practitioners of film, games and animation and other creative organisations to develop new performances that will be presented in Weymouth.
