Cardiff’s Centre for Research in the Built Environment has been recognised by a national award that celebrates the best in Welsh design.
Judges in The Dewi Prys-Thomas Prize commended the Centre (CRiBE) for its pioneering research and international reputation in the fields of environmental design, energy efficiency of buildings and urban sustainable development.
Based in the Welsh School of Architecture, the Centre is led by Phil Jones and takes a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to design. It has produced environmental prediction models for both cities and individual buildings and strategy models for recycling and waste.
The Dewi Prys-Thomas Prize is Wales’s prestigious award that recognizes the importance of good design to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales. It is named after teacher and architect Dewi-Prys Thomas, who was known as an advocate for Wales and its environment.
