Ashmolean events celebrate Love Your Museum Weekend?

The Ashmolean will launch 'I Love This Object', an online exhibition which will last for the duration of the Art Fund Prize. Visitors will have the opportunity to have a photograph taken with their favourite object or painting on display throughout the weekend. Other highlights of the weekend's activities include family session family session 'Love Your Hat,' where participants can make an Ashmolean hat inspired by the museum's collections, and twilight tours of the museum with some of its curators, and an after-hours opening of the collections with drinks and music in the museum's cafe. On Saturday 10 April at 11.30am, the Ashmolean and six of the other long-listed institutions will embark on a national simultaneous 'I love my museum' cheer. All will be encouraging members of the public to take part and show their support by joining them in shouting the loudest as they compete to win the £100,000 prize. The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is one of eleven institutions long-listed for the £100,000 Art Fund Prize, the UK's largest single arts prize. The £100,000 prize is awarded to the museum or gallery for a project completed in the last year that the judges deem demonstrates the most originality, imagination and excellence.
