Role DescriptionDepartmentThe York School of Architecture (YSA) is one of the University of York’s exciting transformational initiatives. The school’s expertise is interdisciplinary, building on York research strengths in culture, community, computation, environment and geography, heritage and social policy to create a school that supports our commitment to public good. The new school welcomed its first students in September 2025 on the BA (honours) Architecture course, in our newly refurbished studio spaces and technical facilities. RoleThe role of Technician is central to the delivery of a high-quality student experience in the York School of Architecture. The post holder will provide skilled technical support in architectural model making and ensure the safe operation of equipment. The facilities include a range of analogue workshop machinery alongside digital fabrication technologies and a dedicated computer lab. The Technician will provide inductions, demonstrations, and training in model-making techniques, from handcrafting with various materials to advanced digital fabrication methods. They will help maintain workshop equipment, follow health and safety procedures, and contribute to the effective running of the technical facilities. The role also includes support as a Departmental Computing Officer, assisting with IT, AV and plotters within the Computer Labs and further technical facilities.Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
