This post is part-time (5 hours per week) and fixed-term for 6 months from the start date.

We are seeking to appoint a SGSAH Assistant Digital Curator to join the College of Arts & Humanities on a part time basis.

The post holder will be required to curate digital content from the SGSAH PhD community for an online Research Showcase and assist with the creation and promotion of digital content more broadly for SGSAH.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will demonstrate high standard of accuracy in presentation, attention to detail and thoroughness. In addition, the post holder will have the ability to use WordPress.com and experience of web editing and content development.

The appointed Digital Curator will report to the Partnerships Manager of SGSAH. We expect the postholder to work largely remotely with occasional in-person meetings and assistance with in-person events if/when relevant.

Job purpose

To curate digital content from the SGSAH PhD community for an online Research Showcase and assist with the creation and promotion of digital content more broadly for SGSAH.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Curate content for SGSAH’s online Research Showcases and online exhibitions (images, audio and text.)

2. Support efforts to promote new and existing digital resources to attract new audiences and better reach existing audiences.

3. Liaise with SGSAH team to support Alumni Engagement strategy.

4. Work closely with the Media and Communication administrator to develop social media content to promote SGSAH in the arts & humanities more widely.

6. Liaise regularly with the SGSAH team on content planning.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Skill level equivalent to achievement of Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Vocational Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

Skills

Essential:

C1 Ability to undertake assigned tasks in a timely manner and to an acceptable standard.

C2 Knowledge of digital research data and digital curation.

C3 Excellent communication skills.

C4 High standard of accuracy in presentation, attention to detail and thoroughness.

C5 Effective planning, organising and prioritising in order to respond to changing pressures or requirements.

C6 Initiative and judgement to resolve problems independently e.g. quality control, managing difficulties in diversity of content.

Desirable:

D1 Ability to use WordPress.com.

D2 Experience of web editing and content development.

D3 Experience transforming new digital objects from the original.
