Vice-Chancellor’s latest blog: Why humanity needs the arts

In Vice-Chancellor Professor Simone Buitendijk’s latest blog, she sets out why the arts and humanities are vitally important in higher education - and all of our lives.

"I don’t want to choose between arts and humanities on the one hand, and science and technology on the other," she writes. "Not as a university leader and not as a person. I believe we need both fields, and we need the interaction between them.

"We’d do well to remember that during the current debate about arts funding in higher education."

Technology alone isn’t enough – why humanity needs the arts , in full, via the University’s medium publication, together with her previous blogs.
