The Commission of Inquiry (CoI) was established by Academic Board (AB) to review reports of problems in UCL’s governance, decision-making, and strategic direction, and to establish their accuracy and where necessary, to make recommendations for AB to address issues identified.
Following AB’s meeting of 15 May 2019, the Commission was further given the task of considering proposed amendments to the Regulations for Management relating to Council’s Nominations Committee.
The Commission has so far held discussions with the Provost, the Registrar, the Director of Finance, the Director of Planning, the Chief Operating Officer and the Vice-Provost (Education and Student Affairs). We have upcoming meetings with lay members of Council.
We are now calling a Town Hall meeting to hear the views of members of UCL on its governance and decision-making. We are particularly interested in colleagues’ assessment of decision-making processes, consultation, and the opportunities to contribute to strategies that affect all aspects of academic work. The Town Hall meeting will also be an occasion to report on the work of the Commission so far.
The Town Hall will be held on Wednesday 16 October 1400-1600hrs in the Cruciform Building B304 Lecture Theatre 1.
