Over 170 students, staff and donors attended another successful Scholarship Reception for our Postgraduate Taught scholars at the Roman Baths on 7 February 2024.

The evening celebrated the success of those awarded PGT scholarships in the beautiful surroundings of the ancient heritage site. Scholars were formally welcomed to Bath by The Mayor, Councillor Dine Romero, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Julian Chaudhuri.

The scholars, who represented a variety of PGT courses across all faculties and came from a wide array of nations, spent the evening celebrating their achievements as well as meeting fellow students, staff members, and donors.

Speaking on the evening, Professor Chaudhuri said: "I’d like to welcome our postgraduate scholarship students - whether you are new to Bath or a returning student; from the UK, or from further away on behalf of the entire University of Bath community, I am pleased to see you here today as you pursue your postgraduate studies with us. We are a university that is dedicated to putting you first and is committed to providing you with an outstanding student experience.

"Our scholarships are awarded on merit and recognise academic excellence, leadership potential as well as extra-curricular skills and experience. Achieving a place at Bath is by no means easy; securing your place and gaining a scholarship to study here is a testament to your talent and potential.

"Fostering an outstanding and inclusive community at Bath is one of our four strategic pillars and we have an intentional and integrated approach to diversity and inclusion. We encourage a culture that celebrates multiple approaches and points of view, and are proud to have a student population which represents 147 nationalities. You, our students, are the heart of this University but you are also part of the wider community in Bath. I hope you will enjoy living and studying in this great city and will make the most of the opportunities that are open to you."

Catherine Baldwin, Director of Student Recruitment & Admissions, said: "The Scholarship Reception is a wonderful celebration of our students. We are proud to make these scholarships available for some of the best and brightest scholars around the world and delighted that they have chosen to study with us at Bath. The Reception is an opportunity for us to congratulate our students on their achievements and for them to meet each other and build networks across the Bath community."
