Lama Tawakkol awarded a BISA Early-Career Research Grant


Dr Lama Tawakkol was awarded the grant from the British International Studies Association (BISA) for her project ’Imperialism’s Past, Present and Future: The Political Economy of Jordan’s Water-for-Energy Deal.

Dr Tawakkol will be researching the water-for-energy deal as a lens (geo)politics, capitalist relations and power asymmetries in the region, particularly as they pertain to water governance and politics in Jordan.

Tawakool is a Lecturer in International Relations who specialises in capitalism and the global political economy. Her research focuses on the politics of development policy and aid, in particular its impact on states and marginalised populations in the Middle East.
