We’ve once again been ranked as one of the UK’s leading universities alongside our standing as a world top 100 university.
Durham is ranked seventh in the Complete University Guide (CUG) 2021, our thirteenth consecutive year in the top ten of this prestigious national league table.
The CUG recognises our world leading and challenging teaching with 31 of our subjects ranked in the UK top ten and Music ranked number one in the country.
The CUG is compiled using a range of measures including student satisfaction, graduate prospects and investment in academic and student facilities.
Our position as one of the UK’s leading universities reflects not only our teaching excellence, but also how we enable our students to go into the world and do outstanding things.
Nationally, we’re consistently a top 10 UK university, ranking fifth in the Guardian University Guide and seventh in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.
We’re also ranked in the world top 100 in the QS World University Rankings and in the world Top 50 in the Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings for our contribution to four of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Investing in new facilities
We know that these are difficult times for the world, but we are determined to continue building on Durham’s strong position by investing in state-of-the-art facilities for the benefit of students, staff and the wider community.
These include our new Teaching and Learning Centre and redeveloped sports park at Maiden Castle, as well as our soon-to-be opened Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science building and new College facilities.
Our aim is for Durham to continue to be an inspirational place for students and staff form across the world to study.
