Faculty Position in Energy Storage Systems

The Institute of Electrical and Micro Engineering is soliciting applications for a faculty position in Energy Storage Systems. The appointment will be at the level of Tenure Track Assistant Professor.

Description

We seek top-level applicants with research interests in the broad area of energy storage devices and their integration into modern and future energy systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: (i) advanced planning and operation of energy storage systems connected to energy grids with stochastic production sources, particularly concerning hydropower technologies connected to current electrical systems requiring rapid regulation services, (ii) modelling of energy storage technologies, (iii) energy storage for automotive applications and, more in general, for autonomous systems.

Requirements

A doctorate will be required at the starting date. The candidate is expected to develop an independent and competitive research program in a multidisciplinary environment. The Faculty member will supervise their own PhD students and will be a proactive member of the Electrical Engineering and Energy communities, engaging with researchers in related fields across the EPFL campus. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and contribute to Electrical Engineering and Energy education programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates with strong academic background, but with few years of experience in industry are also welcome to apply.

This new position is aimed at reinforcing the collaboration between academia and the Swiss industry in the field of power and energy systems. Applicants should demonstrate a potential for direct interactions with industrial partners to pursue specific technological advances.
