Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mechanistic Processes of DNA Entrapment and Loop Extrusion by Cohesin

Salary (£) : £36,024 to £44,263 per annum pro rata

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract for up to 9 months in the first instance
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week) About the role We are seeking to appoint a two Postdoctoral Research Associates to join the Chromosome Biology research group lead by Professor Kim Nasmyth. In particular, we are looking for individuals interested in developing novel super resolution imaging techniques to probe the mechanistic details surrounding the processes of SC formation and maintenance during meiosis.
These full-time fixed-term posts are funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 9 months in the first instance.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject; and have experience in the relevant field of chromosome biology. You should have laboratory experience in core molecular and biochemical techniques, especially with protein engineering, protein expression using insect cell systems, protein purification using AKTA systems and other protein analysis techniques, together with experience in protein crosslinking assays and in-vitro DNA entrapment techniques. Experience with quantitative image analysis and super resolution microscopy is essential, as is having a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
