Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computational Biology

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Vaccine Group in the Department of Paediatrics as our Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computational Biology.

You will play an important role in the contribution of the development and application of machine learning and integrative methods to identify signatures that are predictive of protection or susceptibility to infection/vaccine immunogenicity.

You will be responsible for analyse large data sets (microarray, RNA-seq, protein arrays, Luminex and etc) provide effective support through great communication and organisational skills.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. The Oxford vaccine group under the lead of Professor Andrew J Pollard conducts research in new and improved vaccines for children and adults.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for two years with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.

This role meets the criteria for a UK Skilled Worker visa.

About you

You will have a qualification in Computational Biology, supplemented by relevant post-qualification experience in a expertise on vaccine immunity and infection, with proven and demonstrable biological data analysis skills, including -track record in research, R and Python programming languages, use of High-Performance Cluster environments and use Machine learning methods. You will possess the ability to Integrate high-throughput datasets with clinical, microbiology and immunology readouts with the ability to participate in the design of future clinical studies for collection of samples and large data set generation. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills with all level of staff and an ability to operate effectively in a demanding and enthusiastic research environment.
