Postdoctoral Research Associate in Mechanistic Processes of DNA Entrapment and Loop Extrusion by Cohesin Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QU We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Chromosome Biology research group led by Dr. Madhusudhan Srinivasan and Professor Kim Nasmyth. In particular, we are looking for someone interested in developing novel in vitro techniques to probe the mechanistic details surrounding the processes of DNA entrapment and loop extrusion by cohesin.
Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject; and have experience in the relevant field of chromosome biology. You should have laboratory experience in core molecular and biochemical techniques, especially with protein engineering, protein expression using insect cell systems, protein purification using AKTA systems and other protein analysis techniques, together with experience in protein crosslinking assays and in-vitro DNA entrapment techniques. Experience with quantitative image analysis and super resolution microscopy is essential, as is having a good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
This part-time (10.5 hours per week), fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 1 year in the first instance and is based at The Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QU.
This position is graded on the University’s Grade 7 scale, for which the salary range is £34,308 - £42,155 pro rata per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
