Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Director (Library) in the Library, Learning Support and Culture division (LLSC) which is part of the Student and Academic Services Directorate. This is an exciting, essential and central role within the division.

You will join Royal Holloway at an important time as we embark on the delivery of a new University and Library strategy, and embed a programme of transformational change across both academic units and professional services. In this context, you will have a strong vision of how Library Services can contribute to our institutional mission.

The role will be based predominantly in the iconic Emily Wilding Davison Building (opened in 2017) which is home to our state-of-the-art library, archive and exhibition spaces. Reporting directly to the Director of Library, Learning Support and Culture, you will provide leadership to the library-focussed teams within the division (Academic Liaison, Acquisitions and Content Delivery, Customer Services, Library Systems, and Research Support), and you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of both digital and campus-based library services. You will directly manage 5 staff and be responsible for a team of over 45 employees.

You will be an experienced, empathetic and self-motivated manager with a strong strategic understanding of the changing higher education landscape and the contribution libraries can make to both research and education, including through the application of technology. You will have a collaborative approach and also possess an ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels within the University. We are especially seeking a commitment to the development of a diverse and high-performing workforce.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package, including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities. The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
