As a post-doctoral fellow at Fribourg University, you will be joining a top scientist team and have access to a modern, newly completed, well-equipped research facility to build a strong scientific career. The Chair of Pharmacology is building and expanding a multidisciplinary research program focusing on the pathophysiological role of the gaseous transmitters (NO, CO, H2S) in physiological processes and in various pathophysiological conditions, including Down syndrome, various metabolic diseases, critical illness and cancer. The scientific environment is extremely dynamic and highly collaborative. The successful applicant will have numerous opportunities to grow and expand his/her conceptual and technical horizons, to contribute to the expansion of the research into new directions, and to collaborate with leading scientists and specialized institutes locally and worldwide.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • To conduct laboratory research in the field of life science, by integrating the approaches and tools of molecular medicine, pathophysiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology.
  • To establish and develop new methods and techniques.
  • To design and perform experiments and critically analyze and evaluate data.
  • To perform administrative tasks, as assigned.
  • To participate in student training.
  • Writing of reports, papers and grant applications.
  • Presentation of the findings at national/international congresses.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree.
  • Strong background and excellent track record and publication record in a relevant area of life sciences.
  • Ability to work with multiple experimental methods and tools from various disciplines (pathophysiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, cell biology and molecular biology).
  • Experience as an in-vivo experimenter would be a plus.
  • Strong English language skills are mandatory.
  • Candidate must be able to work both independently and interactively with a team setting.
  • We are looking for dynamic, highly motivated, meticulous, pro-active candidates with excellent conceptual and methodological background and superb problem-solving and analytical skills.
