Description
To strengthen our Regulatory Science Seeds & Traits team in Zwijnaarde, we are looking for a Protein Regulatory Method Development Scientist. This role will be responsible for developing and supporting predominantly protein analytical based methods and tools in support of the further development and global deregulation of seed and trait agriculture products across crops. These regulatory driven methods and tools provide the basis for the regulatory safety assessments of our products worldwide.
You are part of the global Protein Regulatory Method Development team under the umbrella function of Regulatory Science Seeds & Traits to support our Seeds business.
You plan, perform and oversee/coordinate laboratory experiments based on agreed business and project needs using prior knowledge, literature and other information sources.
Furthermore, you document all information including design, protocol and results of an experiment accurately.
You communicate to the supervisors and teammates about progress and challenges on a regular basis. Interact regularly with colleagues from different global units and external collaborators.
You define, design, execute and lead development of novel methods and analyze samples in line with budgeting and resource requirements.
You resolve any ongoing technical challenges in collaboration with others.
You explore, evaluate and bring novel technologies relevant to regulatory method development and tool development.
You implement improvement in current process wherever needed.
You are a member of the GLP Test Facility and may serve as a GLP Study Director and/ or work as GLP analyst when needed.
You coach and mentor junior scientists in the stated area of expertise.
Requirements
You have PhD in Biochemistry, Plant Biology or other relevant field, with minimum eight years of experience in academia or related industry.
Your knowledge on protein biochemistry, especially in the area of protein- molecular interactions with demonstrated peer reviewed publications in this field, will be a plus/advantage.
You have recent hands-on experience and expertise in laboratory protein analytical methods.
This experience includes, but not limited to, protein purification, quantitation, immunological detection and estimation, structure function relationship characterization in a research/industry setting.
You have demonstrated "Attention to detail" aptitude. Ability to solve technical issues with appropriate experimental design and execution.
You have knowledge on biochemical and physiological mode of action of plant pathogen and pest interactions will be a plus/advantage.
You are able to collaborate with global teams for technical knowledge sharing.
When needed, you are able to participate and lead cross functional global teams to brainstorm/ troubleshoot challenges in the area of regulatory method development, applications and suitability.
You are able to communicate with ease verbally and in written form with any available communication platforms.
