Life Sciences Switzerland ( LS2 ) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the life sciences in Switzerland. Our missions are:

  • to render life sciences research visible and to bring scientists together - beyond age and discipline - bythe organization of major interdisciplinary and topical conferences;
  • to promote and to connect researchers early in their career, by the promotion of young scientists via PhDtravel fellowships, satellite meetings, special young symposia and diverse career events;
  • to outreach to the public, by holdingpublic symposia on science-related issues that foster the dialogue between the scientific community and the society at large.

Description

Your responsibilities:

  • Be a proactive member of the LS2office, working as a close team with the other senior SO (total 1.2 FTE).
  • Management and administration of LS2, including ~1’000 members.
  • Coordination of 9 (inter)sections and internal communication.
  • Preparation of the executive committee, delegate and general assembliesand annual report.
  • Organization and management of the LS2Annual Meeting (>500 participants, 40 company exhibitors), section meetings (50-150 participants), workshops and symposia.
  • Fundraisingfor LS2 and its activities.
  • Communication and managementof sponsorships.
  • External communication, including updating of the website, creation of newslettersand management of social media channels.
  • Communicationwith other national and international organizations and representation of LS2 towards the public, its members, its partners and other interest groups.
  • Promotion and development of LS2as the network for life scientists in Switzerland.

Requirements

Your profile:

  • Master’s and/or PhD in a life science discipline.
  • Experience (or strong interest and willingness) in project managementand event coordination.
  • Previous experience in fundraising of non-profit societies or similar organizations would be an asset.
  • Pragmatic, pro-active, flexible, organised and self-motivated attitude; able to work independently in different projects at the same time but seeing the society as a whole.
  • Excellent team player with strong time management,communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with standardcomputer tools.
  • Languages: fluentwritten and oral English; German and/or French would be a plus.
