Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Associate position to be directed by Dr Xavier Moya. The position is available from 1st of April 2020 for up to 6 months.

The post will involve characterising the properties of caloric materials using a number of experimental techniques. The work is highly collaborative and the appointed RA will be expected to liaise with external national and international research groups.

Candidates should have a degree in Physics and a strong background in sample characterisation using calorimetry, x-ray diffraction and infra-red thermometry. Preference will be given to candidates who have a detailed understanding of caloric materials driven using electric field and mechanical stress, and experience in designing and building bespoke experimental systems for studying thermal properties.
